“must” sau “have to”

Must = strong obligationThe speaker thinks it is necessary.

Example: I must take my medicine. (my decision)

 

have to = strong obligation – Someone else thinks it is necessary.

Example: I have to take the medicine. (my doctor says so)

N.B. In the negative form, the meaning changes.

  • I mustn’t take the medicine =

    it is important not to take is

  • I don’t have to take the medicine =

    it isn’t necessary. It’s my decision.
